Festive atmosphere

It is true that there is usually a festive atmosphere even from the afternoon of New Year's Eve. In fact, before and after midnight, the music from DJs at the Municipality's celebration in the Old Town Hall Square basically covered everything else!

According to business owners, the police did make recommendations about the music, but police sources said that they did not make any other arrests.

Extension only on request

As for the decision to allow music to be played until 00:00 on weekdays and 00:30 on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays, it is only valid with a permit granted by the Municipality at the request of the catering establishments. Other than that, the 2012 Regulation is still in force.

The 2012 Regulation states the following: "Extension of hours music is allowed for catering establishments, outside the legal permitted hours, will be given following a request by those interested along with all the supporting documents specified below and with the agreement of the Quality of Life Committee or the Municipal Community that managed and checked, in addition to the supporting documents, the actual conditions of the area where the establishment operates, without creating problems to the residents.

The Deputy Mayor for Everyday Life Haris Yiotis told the same to Enimerosi.
