A nurse of the Corfu Psychiatric Clinic suffered, fortunately minor, injuries due to a window that fell down.
According to a statement from the Employees Union, the incident occurred on 18 September and it is the third time that employees' lives are being put at risk at the psychiatric clinic by bulky and heavy windows. “The same incident has happened many more times without, fortunately, a patient or employee being underneath and it is only due to luck that no serious injury has occurred to a patient or staff to date.
The different “patents” and interventions of the Technical Works Department not only do not solve the problem but instead give a false sense of security until the next window falls.
Instead of inventing patents, it is necessary to immediately change and replace the problematic equipment and provide the necessary conditions for the safe treatment of patients and the safe work of employees.
An inspection and study by a safety technician is required to identify any malfunction and danger, in order to make the working and nursing areas safe for patients.
We demand that the hospital's administration take all necessary actions to ensure the safety of patients and employees.”
