CORFU. The incident became known through a message sent by the elderly woman΄s daughter.

Maria Koi, in a message she sent to Enimerosi, stated that on Wednesday, 7 May, her mother tripped over obstacles left by DEYAK crews on Miltiadis Margaritis Street, resulting in her falling and getting injured.

She goes on to say that this situation has been ongoing for a few days, with the crews digging holes and leaving them open with 'minimal signage', and having left wooden planks on the pavements, which are dangerous for the public—especially the elderly.

In a subsequent message, she states: ‘The municipal contact numbers are not answering, the employees at the DEYAK damage centre have no idea what is going on, and life goes on for everyone—except for my mother, who since yesterday has been suffering unimaginably and is in pain, having been injured FOR NO REASON due to the criminal negligence of a private contractor acting on behalf of the Municipality without any oversight whatsoever.’
