Improvement of medical equipment at Corfu Hospital

CORFU. It concerns the supply of the necessary medical technology equipment for the reopening of the Maternity Ward, and for improving the operation of the Outpatient Clinics of the hospital Ophthalmology Department and Cardiology Department.
(Corfu General Hospital) The procurement, installation, and commissioning of medical equipment has been successfully completed under the Donation Agreement dated 19/11/2024 between Corfu General Hospital and Reggeborgh Invest B.V. The agreement provided for the supply of essential medical technology to support the reopening of the Maternity Ward, as well as to enhance the operations of the Outpatient Clinics of the Ophthalmology and Cardiology Departments.
The following equipment was acquired:

Maternity Ward: Complete set of medical equipment including patient monitors, anaesthesia machines, gynaecological examination couches, cardiotocographs, surgical tables, open incubators, neonatal scales, and non-invasive electronic devices for measuring blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and heart rate, with a total value of €255,528.

Ophthalmology Outpatient Clinics: Equipment including an automatic keratometer–refractometer, slit lamp with five magnifications, optotype display screen, phoropter, and other devices, with a total value of €39,790.
Cardiology Department Equipment: Expansion of the wired network for patient vital signs monitoring and the wireless telemetry network, including portable monitors for patient vital signs, with a total value of €39,340.
The total value of the medical technology equipment amounts to €334,658 excluding VAT.
This donation represents a landmark intervention for the local community of Corfu, as it:

Strengthens the Maternity Ward’s ability to operate independently, reducing the need for patient transfers and providing safe, comprehensive care for women and newborns locally.

Enhances the quality and comprehensiveness of healthcare services in the Cardiology and Ophthalmology Departments.

Contributes to reinforcing public trust in the public healthcare system.
In parallel, as part of the Administration’s strategic plan to ensure the sustainable and full operation of the Gynaecology-Maternity Department, significant staffing measures have already been initiated:
Medical Staff:

A supporting Gynaecologist has been hired.

The recruitment process for a permanent Gynaecologist is underway.
Nursing Staff:

A supporting Midwife has been hired.

Appointment of a permanent Midwife is in progress.

Three positions for permanent Midwives have already been announced.
Additionally:

Recruitment of Anaesthesiologists is planned to support the hospital’s Maternity and Surgical operations.
