CORFU. Police carried out 1,866 checks and found 529 violations.
Between 12 and 15 August, police carried out 1,866 checks in the Ionian Islands and found 529 driving offences - 268 in Corfu, 101 in Zakynthos, 98 in Lefkada and 62 in Cephalonia - including the following:
- 51 speeding
- 13 driving under the influence
- 6 using mobile phone whilst driving
- 4 driving the wrong way
- 62 not wearing crash helmet
- 5 not wearing seat belts
- 2 running a red light
- 1 illegal overtaking
- 8 without MOT
