514 driving offences in Corfu in one week

CORFU. There were 3,248 police checks in the Ionian Islands over the last week and 1,118 driving offences.
(Ionian Islands Regional Police) Traffic Police carried out spot checks between 15 and 21 June in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada.
3,248 vehicles were checked and 1,118 offences were confirmed (514 in Corfu, 270 in Zakynthos, 182 in Cephalonia and 152 in Lefkada).
These included the following:
- 181 for speeding
- 86 for not using helmets
- 40 for driving without a licence
- 32 for driving under the influence
- 28 for not using seat belts
- 28 for MOT violations
- 28 for driving on the wrong side of the road
- 19 for not having insurance
- 15 for noise levels above that permitted
- 5 for using mobile phone while driving
- 2 for running a red light
- 2 for driving dangerously
- 652 other offences
