CORFU. There were 654 driving offences and 38 arrests.
76 Traffic Police units carried out checks between 22 and 27 April in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada.
2,081 vehicles were checked
38 people were arrested - 35 for driving without a licence and 3 for driving under the influence.
654 offences were confirmed (279 in Corfu, 159 in Zakynthos, 117 in Lefkada and 99 in Cephalonia).
These included the following:
- 119 for speeding
- 57 for not using helmets
- 42 for driving without a licence
- 32 for not using seat belts
- 15 for MOT violations
- 11 for driving under the influence
- 8 for using mobile phone while driving
- 5 for running a red light
- 3 for driving on the wrong side of the road
- 362 other offences
