249 arrests for driving offences in Ionian Islands in May

CORFU. In Corfu, Lefkada, Cephalonia and Zakynthos there were 8 road accidents compared to 12 in 2024.
The Ionian Islands Regional Police Department has released aggregate statistical data concerning road accidents and driving offences for the month of May 2025.
Traffic Accidents
In Corfu, Lefkada, Cephalonia and Zakynthos, a total of 8 road accidents were recorded, compared to 12 in 2024.

7 accidents with minor injuries, compared to 8 in 2024
From the road accidents that occurred in urban and rural areas, a total of 8 injuries were recorded, compared to 13 in 2024.

1 person seriously injured, the same as in 2024

7 people slightly injured, compared to 9 in 2024
The main causes of road accidents were:

Traffic Policing Actions
As part of traffic policing operations carried out in May, a total of 4,051 violations were confirmed, including:

50 for using a mobile phone while driving

22 for noise pollution from vehicles
