Two arrested for North Corfu mini-market robberies

CORFU. Five robberies in two days, stealing goods to the value of €1,165.
According to a police press release, two foreign nationals - a man and a woman - were arrested in North Corfu on Friday evening. The two were members of a gang that robbed mini-markets.
The police were following up on information received.
The police investigation revealed that they had been involved in five thefts of alcoholic drinks to the value of €1,165 from North Corfu mini-markets on Thursday 30 June and Friday 1 July. The two were taken to North Corfu police station and a car, which had been used to transport the stolen goods, was seized. The following were found in the car and in the room the perpetrators were staying in temporarily: 33 bottles of alcohol, 12 cartons of cigarettes, €361 and a mobile phone.
The two were taken to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor.
