CORFU. A big increase is expected in June, with dozens of additional flights and new destinations.
There were excellent figures for May at Corfu Airport, with 1,056 international flights compared to 1,100 in the same month in 2019.
Corfu Airport Civil Aviation Employees Union President Dimitris Roussos gave the figures as follows:
"There was high passenger occupancy on most of the flights and we will probably have a final total of 160.000 passengers arriving in May.
UK remains top of the list
The UK remains top of the list with 451 flights (compared to 481 in 2019), Germany was second with 266 (238 in 2019) and France has moved up to third place with 72 (67 in 2019). In fourth place there was a huge increase of flights from Italy - 63 compared to 25 - and the Netherlands was fifth with 42 (52 in 2019).
A big increase is expected in June, with dozens of additional flights and new destinations right from the first week, such as Serbia (Belgrade, Nis), Bulgaria (Sofia), Czech Republic (Prague, Brno, Ostrava), Slovakia ( Bratislava), Italy (Venice, Pisa, Turin, Verona), Hungary (Debrecen), Poland (Wroclaw), Finland (Helsinki) and Greece (Heraklion, Santorini).
A lot of the new routes are with Ryanair but there will also be a lot of Wizzair flights from this month.
There are 43 arrivals scheduled today, 1 June, compared to 29 last Wednesday and tomorrow, 2 June, 54 flights are scheduled, compared to 36 last Thursday.
It should be noted that in June 2019 there were 1,700 flight arrivals and 250,000 passengers."
