CORFU. Fuel prices are falling - The platform for fuel subsidies will be available from the first week in April.

The gradual fall in liquid fuel prices is continuing due to the decrease in the price of oil. The price of petrol hasn't yet dropped below €2 but it seems to be approaching it.

Corfu Petrol Dealers Association president Antonis Sakkos told Enimerosi that today, Friday, the price of unleaded petrol is around €2.08 per litre, diesel is €1.98 and heating oil €1.60-1.65, depending on the filling station.

"The price is gradually dropping, without that necessarily meaning that it won't go up again - even temporarily," he said. "Demand, however, has not increased as consumers are still waiting in the hope that it will drop even further."

Households and businesses are still being restrained with regard to heating oil and are purchasing just enough to get them through the summer, in the hope that prices will be better in the winter.

The gov.gr platform is expected to become available in the first week of April for those who are entitled to the fuel subsidies submit their applications for the online card to use at filling stations.
