Investigation proceeding into cause of fire on Euroferry Olympia

Whilst the firefighting operation continues, procedures have begun to collect statements regarding the incident. According to information received by Enimerosi, on the order of the Prosecutor Dionysis Lambridis the Port Authority, under the supervision of Prosecutor Konstantinos Koukoutsis and the Supreme Court, has begun the investigation into the cause of the fire.

The investigation is at the preliminary inquiry stage and possible criminal liability is being looked into and a case file being drawn up.

Drivers of lorries that were in the ship's garage have been told that they must remain at the hotels where they are being accommodated as they will have to give statements. The same applies to the captain and the crew.
