Spyros Neratis: We΄ll continue recycling clothing until Municipality takes over

The Social Cooperative Enterprise (KOINSEP) recently announced that it would stop recycling clothing and hand over to the Central Corfu Municipality. However, the contractor has not yet set up operations and Spyros Neratzis has issued a new statement. "Without looking into the reasons why the contracting company has not yet started, although it was chosen at the end of July, we will continue until it has been set up."

Without a second thought and for the reasons outlined below combined with the 'endorphins' of voluntary participation, we cannot stop this wonderful journey until the contractor is in a position to continue it!

On 30 August we announced that, "On 26 September we will stop recycling clothing and footwear  in the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality."

The reason was simple: "We remain true to our initial position that we will cease any voluntary efforts when our municipality is in a position to take over."

Without looking into the reasons why the contracting company has not yet started, although it was chosen at the end of July, we will continue until it has been set up. For us the main priority is cooperation and support in order to achieve what is best for the island and not criticism and blaming others.

We are happy because it never crossed our minds for a moment that we would abandon the collaboration that we have had since 2019 and what has been achieved without something being set up to continue the work. All together we can demonstrate the participation and awareness of the public regarding recycling and environmental issues.

All together we showed the way to reduce the volume of waste from clothing and footwear with wonderful results.

So we will continue our work until the contractor takes over in the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands municipality.
