CORFU. Recycling of clothing and plastic bottle tops by North Corfu Municipality continues.

The impressive ongoing response of North Corfu residents to the reuse and recycling of clothing and footwear and the collection of plastic bottle tops can be seen in the large amounts handed over to 'All Together for the Corfu Environment', headed by Spyros Neratzis (clothing) and Corfu Regional Special Needs Association (bottle tops).

On Friday 29 October, a team from North Corfu Municipality headed by Deputy Mayor for Circular Economy, Environment and Public Relations Spyridoula Kokkali in collaboration with Civil Protection Supervisor Giorgos Mavropoulos handed over 1.5 tons of clothing for recycling to 'All Together for the Corfu Environment and 1 ton of bottle tops to Corfu Regional Special Needs Association President Giorgos Spanos.

Both of these have an environmental and social impact. The reuse and recycling of clothing, linen and footwear help reduce the toll on the environment and the cost of waste management and also help provide a lot of people with much-needed clothing and linen.

The collection of bottle tops at the North Corfu Municipal recycling centres helps support Corfu Regional Special Needs Association in its efforts to obtain wheelchairs and orthopaedic equipment for those in need.

Clothing, linen and footwear are collected at Green Spots in Acharavi, Arillas and Horoepiskopi as well as at the clothing recycling bins at Kassiopi Green Spot, Sinies Small Green Spot, Agros KEP and the town hall square in Acharavi.

Items in good condition are set aside for reuse and distributed free to local residents and those that cannot be reused are sent for recycling.

North Corfu Municipality is continuing its efforts and thanks all members of the public and businesses for their tremendous response.
