CORFU. The contract was signed and the marina was handed over.

Home Center Management One is now responsible for the Alipa Marina, following the signing of the lease contract with Central Corfu Municipality.

Deputy Mayor for Tourism Panos Varouchas told Enimerosi that the company has already paid the first year’s leasing fee and the required deposit.

The company will also pay an annual fee of €300,000 to the Municipality, while, according to the contract, it is obliged to take the necessary steps for the marina’s operation and, in particular, to take care of the preparation of all studies and the issuance of all permits and approvals required.

The lease will be valid for about 17 years, with the possibility of an extension for another ten years, following a request by the lessee and approval from the Municipal Council.

The marina will have 103 berths, while the lease contract provides that the lessee accepts the mooring of 12 commercial fishing boats of the Municipality of Paleokastritsa, which will be exempt from paying mooring fees. There will also be berths for rental and tourist boats.

The Municipal Authority expects that this lease will not only solve chronic problems and upgrade the area and its tourism, but it will also provide significant revenue for the Municipality.

It should be noted that the lease of the Alipa Marina in Paleokastritsa is the second one signed by the Municipal Authority, following the lease of the Benitses Marina.
