CORFU. North Corfu Municipality supports all efforts to care and love for dogs and other pets.

The 4th National Pedigree Dog Show was once again successfully organised by Corfu Canine Club and Corfu Hunting Club in Spianada Square on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 September. Participants came from all over Greece and abroad and there was a good turnout of visitors.

North Corfu Municipality was represented by Deputy Mayor Nikos Mouzakitis, who congratulated the organisers for giving participants the opportunity to compete in the different categories with their particular breeds, thus encouraging the development of pedigree breeding and for the involvement of the local community in helping to draw more people to the island. He said that the venue also played a major role - the largest square in the Balkans and the surrounding area with its important attractions (Liston, Palace of St. Michael and St. George, Old Fortress etc.)

He pointed out that North Corfu Municipality supports all efforts to care and love for dogs and other pets and, to this end, cooperates with animal welfare groups and organisations providing care and food for stray animals in North Corfu.

The organisers asked the Deputy Mayor for assistance from North Corfu Municipality so that the next show can be as succesful and help promote Corfu and its cultural traditions. Let's not forget, he said, that love of animals is the sign of a civilised society.
