35-year-old man arrested for arson in South Corfu

CORFU. The 35-year-old Ukrainian man, accused of arson attempt last Saturday in Foukario Parakladi area in Lefkimmi, was taken to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor.
The man attempted to set fire on dry leaves late in the afternoon, but firefighters rushed immediately and, thanks to their quick intervention, it was extinguished before it could spread.
For the man’s arrest, crucial was the assistance of Police Officers of the Lefkimmi Police Station, who based on the Fire Station's description, arrested him at his home in Lefkimmi. Police sources say that the suspect confessed to his act.
Shortly after 12p.m. he was taken to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor and is expected to appear before the investigating magistrate.
