Ten days after the signing of the cooperation agreement between North Corfu Municipality and Social Cooperative Enterprise 'All Together for the Corfu Environment' the first recycling bins were delivered for the collection of clothing, footwear and linen goods.

As of Thursday 3 June North Corfu Municipality has four special bins to help reduce the volume of waste and protect the environment.

The North Corfu is a leader amongst all the small island municipalities thanks to the ongoing efforts of Deputy Mayor for the Circular Economy, Environment and Public Relations Spyridoula Kokkali.

Sinies has had the first bin since 2020.

On 2 June the other three bins were set up in Town Hall Square, Acharavi, Agros KEP and Kassiopi Green Spot.

Depending on the need, the network will be extended to allow as many North Corfu residents as possible to recycle clothing.

Members of the public are requested only to put clothing that is not in good condition in these bins as the Green Spots in Acharavi and Arillas collect clothing and footwear that is in good condition for reuse - to be given free to those in need.

The Municipality is requesting those that produce a high volume of waste such as hotels and rented accommodation to call 26633 60155 and 6978 614699 to arrange for linen goods to be collected from their premises.

Just as it does in all its activities, North Corfu Municipality will be distributing educational materials with information about the collection of clothing and footwear.

Clear goals and planning based on knowhow and current legislation supported by passion and cooperation will help bring success.
