CORFU. A pupil at Corfu 5th Nursery School has tested positive for Covid-19.
The news was confirmed to ERT by the Director of Primary Education Christos Anthis.
The girl is the young sister of the junior high pupil who had previously tested positive. Due to the fact that there was a positive case in the family, the parents had taken the precaution of keeping the young girl and not sending her to nursery school 2 days ago.
Consequently, according to EODY protocol, the school doesn't need to close. Mr Anthis said that the parents had acted responsibly and isolated the child as a precaution and so there is no need to temporarily close the nursery.
He added that there is a need for pupils to be tested but at the moment this is not included in EODY regulations.
