CORFU. It was the first visit of the Ionian Islands Regional Administration and EODY to Mathraki and Erikoussa to carry out Covid-19 tests.
The strong Force 6 winds did not allow the EODY team to visit Othoni as had been originally planned, so tests were only conducted on two of the three Diapontia Islands - Mathraki and Erikoussa.
Over 50 rapid tests were carried out on the two islands, which all came out negative.
Regional Governor for Public Health, Social Welfare and Employment Kostas Zorbas said, "It was the first time that a team from EODY had come to these coastal islands to conduct tests. It is very important that we don't forget those living in the northwesternmost part of the country, which is why the Regional Authority arranged with EODY to test the residents of the Diapontia Islands."
"Unfortunately, the weather conditions didn't allow us to visit Othoni," he added. "but we promise to pay a second visit to the coastal islands in the near future. The important thing is that all of the approximately 50 tests were negative."
