CORFU. All inmates in one wing of the prison are in quarantine as the administration awaits direction from EODY.
Two inmates with symptoms were tested for coronavirus and the results were positive.
EODY was informed and the two inmates, aged 36 and 39, were isolated in the prison as their symptoms were not deemed serious enough to be hospitalised.
Once the test results were known, the order was given for all 22 inmates in H Wing to be kept in quarantine in their cells and not to have contact with each other. The prison wings do not have contact with each other and they each have their own yard, which is why only the one wing was put in quaratine.
The orders for the prison staff - at least until Monday evening - were for them to carry on their duties as normal but to adhere strictly to the safety measures. Contact tracing is underway and the prison administration is awaiting further directions from EODY and, most of all, further tests.
