Very high fire risk in Corfu (Level 4)

Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipal Civil Protection Service has issued the following statement:

The fire risk for Corfu from midnight on Thursday 3/9 until midnight on Friday 4/9 is very high (Level 4).

If you are outdoors

- Don't burn rubbish or dry grass and branches.
- Don't light outdoor grills/barbecues in wooded areas or areas with dry grass.
- Avoid jobs that could cause fires (e.g. welding or using tools that cause sparks).
- Don't throw away lit cigarettes.
- Don't leave rubbish in woods. There is a danger it may catch fire.
- Obey the Access Prohibited notices at times of high risk.

If you see a fire

Phone the Fire Department IMMEDIATELY on 199 or the European Emergency Number 112 and provide the following information:

- Your exact location
- The exact location of the fire and the direction it is moving
- The kind of vegetation that is burning

Please note you can call 112 even if you don't have a signal or a card in the mobile.
