Fire in Vraganiotika

CORFU. Fire broke out in Vraganiotika, South Corfu at about 4pm on Sunday afternoon.
Three manned fire engines rushed to the area but, due to the strong winds, reinforcements were sent. According to the Fire Department, fire had broken out at two points - the first was extinguished quickly but the second, which was near Drakontoneri, was more serious.
Fire Chief Nikos Kolovos ordered more reinforcements and 8 firefighters were sent along with two vehicles from South Corfu Civil Protection and two from Central Corfu. The second fire was then brought under control having burnt an area of around 2 stremma of low-lying vegetation and reeds.
