Corfu Port open for passenger ships from Italy

Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas announced: "Following a lot of effort and the coordination of several departments in four separate Ministries, the problem has been resolved and Corfu has now been included in the ports open to passenger ships from Italy just like Patras and Igoumenitsa.

"I would like to thank the Marine Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis, the Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias, the Deputy Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis, the Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias and the President of EODY Panayiotis Arkoumaneas with whom I have been in constant contact - understanding the size of the problem they all helped to find a solution.

"Very soon an officer or warrant officer, 4 Port Authority Officers and a team from EODY (National Public Health Organisation) will report for duty at Corfu Port and be on hand for all passenger arrivals from Italy.

"Port officers will check passengers' PLFs and the EODY team will be responsible for sample tests. Onwards and upwards!"
