Meropi Ydraiou discusses electromobility, the environment and sustainable development with Swedish Ambassador

CORFU. Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Mayor Meropi Ydraiou met with the Swedish Ambassador to Greece Charlotte Sammelin at the Old Town Hall this afternoon.
They discussed energy, the environment and sustainable development.
The Mayor updated the Ambassador on the steps that have been taken to build an Integrated Waste Management facility and about the upcoming transportation of waste to Kozani.
They discussed the potential for garages for electric cars, in which Sweden has expertise. The Mayor said that her intent was to create car parks on the outskirts of the town and have electric buses taking people into the historical centre.
They also spoke at length about the comparative advantages of Corfu, the potential to develop educational tourism in conjunction with the Ionian University and the promotion of cultural programmes.
Also present at the meeting were the First Secretary at the Embassy Sidal Gunes, the Swedish Consul in Corfu Vassilis Kontos and the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Sport and Public Relations Chrysoulla Tombrou.
