CORFU. Celebrating the 156th Anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece on 21 May, 1864.
From the monumental 1823 work by the national poet Dionysis Solomos "Hymn to Freedom", which was set to music (in 5 variations between 1828 and 1861) by the national composer Nikolaos Halikiopoulos Mantzaros.
The work has been arranged by Spyridon Mavropoulos ('Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society honorary conductor) for the Society's Brass Ensemble and is conducted by Socrates Anthis for the 156th Anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece on 21 May, 1864.
