CORFU. Following the lifting of the lockdown Corfu volunteers have started sorting at source again at the recycling centres.
The gradual lifting of the lockdown measures due to coronavirus has meant that the voluntary recycling centres can start operating once again.
According to Spyros Neratzis' post on Facebook, in just the first three days following the lockdown relaxation (Monday - Wednesday) volunteers throughout the island and all those involved in sorting at source managed to collect five small vanloads of plastic bottletops and clothes - and that was just from four locations, not the whole island.
The four locations were the Green Spots in Pagi, Spartylla and Ano Korakiana and the special bin outside KEP.
Spyros Neratzis, leader of the 'Kerkyra Psilla' party and Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Councillor responsible for Voluntary Work, said: "Yet agai our fellow citizens have shown their respect for the environment and their desire to recycle."
