CORFU. Central Corfu Municipality is finally dealing with what had for years been a problem for cars and pedestrians.
Due to age and wear the damaged rainwater gratings around the cricket pitch were dangerous for unsuspecting pedestrians, mainly children, and also caused damage to vehicles.
Last week a crew from the Municipal Technical Works Department made preparations and today the work of replacing the gratings began. As can be seen from Enimerosi's photo, the crew not only replaced the gratings but also placed blocks to protect them from the vehicles. In this way the new gratings will at least not be damaged by the weight of the parked cars.
