1m Euros for road repairs in North and South Corfu

In a press release it was stated that the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Kostas Karamanlis signed for the release of 1m Euros for road repairs in the Municipalities of North and South Corfu following the damage caused by the weather last winter.

"As we promised, the Ministry for Infrastructure has released 500,000 Euros for the Municipality of South Corfu (400,000 for repairs to the road network at Agios Mathaios and 100,000 for work on the road network at Pentati, as requested by the Municipality).

500,000 Euros will go to the Municipality of North Corfu - 380,000 for repairs to the North Corfu road network and 120,000 for repairs to the road network in Kassiopi, as requested by the Municipality."

"I would like to thank the Minister for Infrastructure Kostas Karamanlis for willingly listening to our request and providing essential assistance to the new Municipalities which were hit hard by the weather in winter.

The emergency provision of 1m Euros will provide the new Municipalities with essential help in carrying out road repair work.

I would like to point out that these funds are separate from those approved by the Ionian Islands Regional Administration.

Our Government supports the Greek Regions and demonstrates this whenever there is an opportunity."
