Charges brought against Archbishop, Mayor and others

CORFU. Leaving the Courthouse the Corfu Prosecutor Mr. Lambridis told reporters that they were being sought and will be brought to court.

Charges have been brought against Archbishop Nektarios, Mayor Meropi Ydraiou, Central Corfu Municipal Council President Dimitris Metallinos and all those who were at St. Spyridon Church on Palm Sunday for violating the lockdown.

Leaving the Courthouse the Corfu Prosecutor Mr. Lambridis told reporters that they were being sought and will be brought to court.

Sources close to the Archbishop told Enimerosi that it was a surprise to them. "We are hearing it from you," they said.

Police sources confirmed that the Prosecutor has brought charges and requested that they be prosecuted. It remains to be seen if the Archbishop, the Mayor and the Council President will be found on Monday.
