Ministerial Decision regarding travel to islands - how to complete residence certification

ATHENS. The Joint Ministerial Decision regarding travel to islands for permanent residents has been published. Special digital application on Taxisnet site with Certification of Residence for Special Use.
The Joint Ministerial Decision stating that for one month - until 21 April - only permanent residents will be allowed to travel to islands has been published by the Ministry for Maritime and Island Policy.
Proof of permanent residency will be confirmed before passengers board the ferries or other vessels and there is now an application on the Taxisnet site where islands' permanent residents can complete the Certification of Residence for Special Use.

This certification is required for anyone who is a permanent resident and wishes to travel to their island. In order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic travel to islands by non-permanent residents is prohibited.

The Joint Ministerial Decision also list the exceptions to the measure:
- Personnel from the Armed Forces, Security Forces, Coastguard and Civil Protection services who are travelling on duty.
- Public employees and education employees of all sectors including the Merchant Navy Academy who are permanently employed on an island or are travelling there to take up a position.
- All public and private medical and nursing personnel, researchers and health professionals as well as personnel from the National Public Health Organisation (EODY) who are permanently employed on an island or are travelling there to take up a position.
- Those travelling for urgent social needs as long as there is proper proof / certification.
