Meropi Ydraiou promises support for the Sinies Festival

CORFU. Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Mayor Meropi Ydraiou met with Sinies Educational & Cultural Society board members yesterday.
At the courtesy meeting they discussed the Folklore Festival with Mediterranean countries in Corfu in September 2022, which is being organised by the Sinies Cultural Society and the Greek branch of CIOFF.
Ms. Ydraiou assured the Society members that the Municipality will do everything necessary to support this important cultural event and accepted their invitation to take part in the organising committee.
CIOFF® (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts) is an international nongovernmental organization in Official Partnership with UNESCO. Created in 1970, the duty of CIOFF® is safeguarding, promotion and diffusion of traditional culture and folklore.
Full members are National Sections who represent their countries' folklore festivals, cultural organisations, dance groups and those involved in any form of folk culture.
The aims of the Organisation are to promote friendship between peoples of the world and understanding of traditions and traditional arts. Implement the UNESCO Programmes related to traditional cultures. Promote and safeguard traditional arts and amateur cultural activities. To support and improve the cultural quality and the organisation of folklore festivals. To encourage international cultural heritage exchanges between members.
Serve the cause of peace and non-violence through the implementation of the above objectives
