CORFU. Those addicted to drugs or alcohol will be admitted to hospital for 21-day detoxification programmes.
On 30 September Corfu General Hospital will become the first regional hospital in Greece to have a Detox Unit.
Hospital Director Phivos Kakavitsas expressed his satisfaction when confirming the fact to Enimerosi and posting it on social media .
Two days after Corfu, Ioannina Hospital will also open its own Detox Unit. So, with a couple of days difference, Corfu will be the first!
The Detox Units are part of the Diaplus programme which gives drug and alcohol addicts the opportunity to be admitted to hospital for a 21-day detoxification programme.
Phivos Kakavitsas told Enimerosi that great efforts had been made for the hospital to be accepted on one of the ESPA funding programmes in order to set up the Detox Unit. It was one of the subjects discussed when the Hospital Director met with the new Ionian Islands Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa recently.
