CORFU. The Italian Navy training yacht ΄Orsa Maggiore΄ will dock at Gouvia Marina on Wednesday 21 August.
The vessel will remain at the Marina until 24 August. The visit to Corfu is part of the annual training of ten ensign trainees from the third year of the Naval Academy in Livorno.
The vessel, which was presented to the Navy in 1994, is one of the smallest yachts used for the training of personnel - allowing them to apply the theoretical knowledge they have learned over the last year at the academy, to gain maritime experience and to develop the team spirit the Italian Navy tries to cultivate amongst crews.
After Corfu the Orsa Maggiore will continue its journey to the port of Trieste before returning to Livorno on 21 September at the end of the training journey.
Whilst in Corfu the vessel will be open to the public at the following times:
Thursday 22 August: 10:30 - 12:00 and 16:30 - 19:00
Friday 23 August: 10:30 - 12:00
