Boat out of control near Paxos
PAXOS. The departure of the yacht from Paxos has been prohibited until the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness.
On Tuesday afternoon, 17/09, Paxos Port Authority was informed of a sailboat in distress with six passengers (German nationals). The vessel was experiencing a mechanical failure and had also suffered a sail fracture, located in the sea area 2 nautical miles east of Gaios.
A patrol boat from the Coast Guard and the fishing boat Tolos arrived at the scene, locating the sailboat with the passengers in good health. The sailboat was towed with the assistance of Tolos and accompanied by the patrol boat to the northern part of Gaios harbour, where it safely docked. The sailboat was prohibited from departing by Paxos Port Authority until a seaworthiness certificate is submitted by the attending surveyor.
