Yacht runs aground near Alykes, Lefkimmi

CORFU. The yacht ΄Rapax΄ sailing under the Maltese flag and with three foreign nationals aboard ran aground near Alykes, Lefkimmi on Thursday morning.
Lefkimmi Coast Guard immediately went to the spot with the fishing vessel Pitsouras along with a Coast Guard patrol boat, the tugboat Thiella and a diver.
The tugboat was able to pull the yacht free and it was then towed to Gouvia Marina accompanied by the patrol boat and moored securely.
There were no injuries and no sea pollution. Lefkimmi Coast Guard station is conducting an investigation and the vessel has been forbidden from sailing until a certificate of seaworthiness has been issued.
