CORFU. The Panhellenic Seamen΄s Federation (PNO) has announced that there will be a 24-hour strike of all seamen on Wednesday 3 July.
The PNO Executive Committee held an extraordinary meeting yesterday to discuss the new proposal from the ferry owners regarding collective labour agreements for ferry crews.
Ferry owners had proposed a 2% increase in collective labour agreements from 1/6/2019 while seamen's unions have demanded the abolishment of the law regarding the reduction of crew numbers on ships in the Adriatic and an improvement in ferry boat crew numbers as, they point out, a 2013 law reduced hotel personnel by 50% in winter months.
The previous collective labour agreement from 1 January to 31 December 2018 included a 2% increase in monthly salaries for active officers and lower-level personnel on passenger ferry boats.
