ERIKOUSSA. Erikoussa Cultural Society is encouraging fellow residents not to vote at the General Election as a protest.
And the reason? The lack of a doctor on the island despite repeated promises.
The Society's letter:
"Since January 2019 our Society has followed all the proper legal procedures in our efforts to have a doctor on the island and has been in contact with all those responsible in order to find a solution. Unfortunately, up to now all our efforts have come to nothing. Having a doctor on the island is the most important issue for all of us - for our families, children, the elderly, visitors to the island and local businesspeople. The Society is doing what it can as the welfare of the island is our responsibility, but it is not enough for just five people to try and get something done - we all have to shout out together. For something as important as this we have to stand together. We've received plenty of promises this year....but we still don't have a doctor on the island."
