CORFU. The dog shot by its owner on 15 May is back in Corfu.
The animal welfare organisation The Ark took responsibility for the care of the dog, which was taken to Thessaloniki to remove the lead shot lodged in her spine so that she could walk again.
She has been named Agapi (Love) and has been adopted by a volunteer who is looking after her. The Ark is giving warm thanks to everyone who helped in whatever way they could to save the poor dog. The news is good and it looks like the dog will be able to use its legs again after a recovery period.
The 67-year-old who shot her was arrested on the following day and given a 33-month suspended sentence as well as a 5,300€ fine. It is understood that he will be appealing.
