6.5kg cannabis found in storeroom in South Corfu

CORFU. A 48-year-old man was charged with possession and trafficking of unprocessed cannabis in Corfu.

On Saturday (2/2)afternoon (2/2) a search was conducted in the presence of a judicial official in a storeroom used by the 48-year-old. Packages of unprocessed cannabis totalling 6.5kg were found and confiscated.

The 48-year-old had been arrested by officers from the Regional Drug Squad and Corfu Central Port Authority following a search of his home in South Corfu in which the following were discovered hidden in two schoolbags:

1. A nylon package with 221g unprocessed cannabis.
2. A metal box with 200g unprocessed cannabis.
3. A nylon package with 23g unprocessed cannabis.
4. A nylon tobacco pouch with 19g unprocessed cannabis.
5. A nylon package with 26g unprocessed cannabis.

In an abandoned building opposite the house, in a can that was used as a hiding place the following were found:

1. A nylon package with 241g unprocessed cannabis.
2. A nylon package with 253g unprocessed cannabis.
3. A nylon package with 380g unprocessed cannabis.

In a plot of land belonging to the 48-year-old a glass jar was found containg the following:

1. A nylon package with 112g unprocessed cannabis.
2. A nylon package with 82g unprocessed cannabis.
3. A plastic bottle with 10g processed cannabis.

The file with charges against the 48-year-old will be passed on to the Corfu Prosecutor.
