Municipal workers on strike - Wednesday 14 November

CORFU. The Panhellenic Federation of Local Authority Workers (POE-OTA) and local authority workers are taking part in the 24-hour strike on Wednesday 14 November which was called by the Union of Civil Servants (ADEDY).
POE-OTA issued the following statement:
"Local authority workers are demanding that a common front be established against the privatization and selling off of public and municipal property and the bleeding of wages and pensions and demand:
1. Recruitment of permanent personnel, especially in social and community services (education, health, nurseries, social services, cleansing services, green services, insurance funds etc.). Abolishment of flexible labour relations.
2. Wage increases. Taking account of the 2016-17 in wage development. New wage structure for 2019 to gradually restore income that was lost unjustly and restore the 13th and 14th salaries.
3. Abolishment of the Katrougalo Insurance Law and all the unconstitutional insurance laws. Gradual restoration of all pensions.
4. Consideration for top level local authority workers that hold key positions and cover ongoing needs on a long-term basis.
5. Abolishment of the Gerovasili Amendment on evaluation. Continuation of strikes.
6. Strict application of Health & Safety legislation and modernisation of mechanical equipment to bring to an end the fatal local authority accidents.
7. No auctioning off of houses and property belonging workers who cannot make payments.
8. Tax 'raids' and reduction of our incomes to cease. Non-taxable income to be set at 12,000 Euros. Abolishment of ENFIA (property tax). VAT to be reduced to 15%.
9. Extension and increase - and no cuts - in the workers' Unhealthy & Dangerous Work Allowance which they currently receive. Hazardous Local Authority Occupations to have improved regulations regarding years of work and pension age.
10. Monitoring of Expenses not to be abolished. Immediate abolishment of Article 204 of Law 4555/2018.
11. Ratification of the Public and Social nature of public and local authority services. Abolishment of Article 61 of Law 3979/2011.
12. Abolishment of the regulation - 50% + 1 votes for strikes to be called."
