Temploni reorganizing itself with the support of organizations from a wider area

CORFU. Temploni residents are now coming together with residents from a wider area in Central Corfu to tackle the problems with refuse and the Temploni landfill.
There was a public assembly in Temploni on Sunday night in which the following organizations took part: Temploni Cultural Society, Gouvia Cultural Society, Kontokali Parents and Guardians Association, Yiannades Cultural & Agricultural Society, Potamos Cultural Society, Evropouli Choir and Corfu Tourist Guides Association.
It was decided which decisions will need to be agreed upon by everyone from now on and that in legal matters signatures will be required from all the organizations.
Great importance was placed on the matter of recycling and ways were discussed in which residents could organize their own efficient methods of sorting at source.
Regarding the so-called '4th cell' - the pile of rubbish building up next to the baler, where the compost area was, which is growing larger and larger - residents decided that they should send a warning to the Municipality. They will request a time schedule of actions to be taken, with a clear message that if there is no improvement in waste management within the next ten days, they will take action in ways to be announced shortly. All the organizations also decided to press charges against the creation of a new landfill.
