CORFU. Police inspect cafes, bars and restaurants in Kavos.

In the early hours of Thursday morning two men aged 56 and 59 were arrested in Kavos for two separate instances of noise pollution.

Using an electronic device, police were able to determine that the noise levels were above the legal limit in two cafe bars in Kavos and the 56-year-old owner of the first and the 59-year-old temporary manager of the second were arrested.

The 52-year-old owner of another cafe bar was found to have committed what is classed as a petty crime of disturbing the peace.

The investigation was part of an intense policing campaign being carried out in Ionian Islands tourist areas throughout the summer season.

The arrested men were taken to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor.
