Fire at Kontokali football pitch

CORFU. The Fire Service was called out to Kontokali football pitch just after six o΄clock this evening.
The fire spread rapidly through the trees and tall reeds in the area and was about to cross the road to a tall palm tree outside a house. There were a number of houses close to the danger area but the firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control.
Nearby residents said that someone at the football pitch had thrown a firecracker.
