Lefkimmi residents face off with the riot police

LEFKIMMI. For the second day Lefkimmi residents gathered on the streets opposite the riot police (MAT).
Widespread tension exists in the presence of the tight police cordon.
Throughout the day things are quite peaceful compared to the incidents of the previous night apart from some embers from the burnt-out refuse bins and molotov cocktails.
Following the meeting of the Lefkimmi Cultural Society on Tuesday night residents have decided to hold protest meetings - not just in Lefkimmi but in Corfu Town as well. It was decided that on Friday night at 8pm residents will gather outside the Regional building in Lefkimmi and proceed towards Corfu Town.
