Protesters find Temploni landfill closed

CORFU. Residents who had decided on Thursday to block access to the mountain of rubbish within the facility found the Temploni facility padlocked.
Cell unit 3, which they wanted to blockade, is within the facility.
Police patrol cars were also at the facility.
Given that the Action Committee had made it clear that they didn't want to block access to the whole facility, which would have obstructed the operation of the waste-baler, there protest would have had to be inside the facility at the track leading to the top of the mountain of refuse.
By closing the whole facility the Municipality has the advantage of being able to open it whenever necessary to allow refuse trucks to pass but without allowing residents to enter.
Noone can foresee what the outcome will be, but it seems that this problem isn't going to go away any time soon.
