CORFU. Award for innovation, consistency and strategy once again!

The systematic and pioneering work of the Municipality of North Corfu in the field of integrated waste management has been rewarded with yet another distinction.

As part of the 4th Attica Green Expo, held at the Olympic Property of Palaio Faliro (Tae Kwon Do) on Friday, May 30, our Municipality was honoured with the "Michalis Christakis" Innovation Award for its 17+1 specialised recycling streams, by the Panhellenic "Kleisthenes" Association of General Secretaries of Local Government, in the presence of the Minister of Employment and Social Insurance, Niki Kerameos.

The award was received on behalf of the Municipality of North Corfu by the Municipality’s General Secretary, Konstantinos Provatas, representing the Municipal Authority.

A Tangible Confirmation of Strategy and Innovation

This specific recognition—the eighth in a row—confirms that the Municipality of North Corfu does not operate in a fragmented manner, but rather follows a comprehensive strategy. With a focus on specialised recycling streams, public education, the circular economy and collaboration with collective alternative management systems, we are proving in practice that an island municipality can take the lead on a national level.

An Award That Belongs to All Citizens

This award belongs to all the citizens of the Municipality of North Corfu—to every resident who recycles, who participates, who supports our collective effort for a cleaner, more modern, and sustainable future. It also belongs to all the cleaning services workers who work daily for the best possible outcome.

The Municipal Authority continues with vision, evidence-based decisions and constant action, aiming for the Municipality of North Corfu to remain a model of waste management and environmental responsibility.
