Proper disposal of another 5,000 mattresses in North Corfu

CORFU. "We urge residents not to abandon mattresses and bulky items next to refuse bins, as this causes disruption and visual pollution."
(Spyridoula Kokkali) The Municipality of North Corfu is continuing its targeted efforts for recycling and the proper management of waste. As part of this initiative, the transfer of an additional 5,000 used mattresses to a licensed waste management facility outside Corfu begins today.
This action is a continuation of the bulky items and mattress management programme and is part of the Municipality of North Corfu’s integrated waste management strategy, which includes 17 different recycling streams. It supports the Municipality's transition to a circular economy model and environmental responsibility.
Due to their size and synthetic materials, mattresses are among the most difficult items to manage. The Municipality of North Corfu is investing in infrastructure and partnerships that ensure their safe and environmentally appropriate handling.
We urge residents not to abandon mattresses and bulky items next to refuse bins, as this causes disruption and visual pollution. Instead, for proper collection, please contact the Cleaning Service at 26633 60155.
The Municipality of North Corfu remains firmly committed to practices that protect the environment, facilitate the daily lives of citizens, and build a municipality that respects both people and nature.
