The Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) has called a strike on 18th April.

The strike starts at 6am and PNO has said that the mobilization may continue.

In its announcement the Federation refers to, “The break-up of NAT (Seamen’s Insurance Fund) and the grabbing of all its property, the demolition of KEAN (Seamen’s Auxiliary Insurance Capital), the debasing of pensions, the continuous increase in unemployment, illegal uninsured work, continuous violations of employment regulations, the continuous downgrading of social insurance and medical care of employees and pensioners, delays in payment and continuous violation of collective labour agreements concerning when and how monies due are to be paid, cuts in main and auxiliary pensions – both for officers and other crew members, continuous attempts to dismantle and eradicate our legal rights as well as reducing the number of Greek seamen.”

PNO is demanding, amongst other things, a solution to the issue of pensions, new collective labour agreements and payment of earned income.
