The Corfu MP Fotini Vaki met with the Deputy Minister for Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Socrates Famellos, on Monday.

Amongst the topics they discussed was the development of the Managing Body for the Protected Areas (FDPP) Kalamas-Acherondas-Corfu. Specifically, Ms Vaki referred to the legal possibility for FDPP bases of operation to be transferred, according to the requirements of the Municipalities and the Regions and in relation to the size of their ‘Natura’ areas. She pointed out that this could make the establishment of the FDPP in Corfu possible.

Mr. Famellos, however, informed Ms Vaki that the initial focus in the coming period is the composition of the Organizations’ Boards, the establishment of organizational charts and personnel and other necessary actions so that the organizations can provide sufficient administrative and business support. He went on to say that once the aforementioned have been achieved, special environmental studies will be carried out in order to clarify what is to be protected and the necessary actions.

After the completion of these procedures, a proposal will be made by the associate Body to the Minister about the operational base and any branches that may be required.
